Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said the Strait of Hormuz should be jointly managed by Iran and Oman.
According to Jin10, Tasnim News Agency reported on July 3 that Ghalibaf made the remarks the same day during a meeting with Iraqi Parliament Speaker Haibat al-Halbousi.
Discussing management of the Strait of Hormuz, Ghalibaf said a recently signed memorandum of understanding with the United States had set out provisions on the issue, stating that the strait should be jointly managed by Iran and Oman.
He added that Iran was seeking views on the matter from Persian Gulf coastal countries, including Iraq.
