CME Group said its average daily volume (ADV) in June reached a record 30.6 million contracts, up 19% year over year, while second-quarter volume averaged 29.8 million contracts, the second-highest on record.
According to ChainCatcher, CME’s cryptocurrency futures ADV in June rose 76% year over year to 334,000 contracts, with a notional value of about $10.7 billion.
Micro Bitcoin futures ADV increased 46% to 77,000 contracts in June, CME data showed.
For the second quarter, CME’s cryptocurrency futures ADV averaged 250,000 contracts, up 32% year over year, with a notional value of about $13.7 billion. Ethereum futures ADV rose 10% to 18,000 contracts in the quarter, according to the exchange’s figures.
