A Lenovo executive said AI computing power demand still has significant room to grow and that there is no oversupply.

According to Jin10, on July 2, Lenovo Group Vice President and Lenovo China Chief Strategy Officer Ablikmu Ablimit said that, over the long term, AI computing power demand has substantial potential in both China and overseas markets, and no computing power oversupply has emerged.

He said the number of mature, leading consumer-facing AI products remains limited, while the commercialization potential for enterprise-facing applications has not yet been fully realized. He added that the growth dividends from past productivity transformations were driven by the industrial side, and that long-term computing power demand is large.

Ablimit also said the current AI industry chain has issues including overly strong supply-side influence and an imbalance in the supply-demand cycle.

Separately, recent news that Meta opened up computing power has triggered market concerns about a potential computing power oversupply.
