Standard Chartered and Circle have jointly launched an integrated access service for institutional clients to mint and redeem USDC, allowing eligible institutions to use USDC through a single onboarding and service process without opening a separate account with Circle.
According to Foresight News, the launch makes Standard Chartered the first global systemically important bank (G-SIB) to obtain the relevant license for this service.
The service is currently available to eligible clients through Standard Chartered’s Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) operations. It combines fiat banking, digital asset infrastructure, and public blockchain networks into a bank-led solution.
Standard Chartered said the service supports institutional use cases including on-chain settlement, treasury management, and liquidity management.
The bank added that it plans to expand the service to more markets, subject to regulatory approvals and suitable market conditions.
