Spain’s National Securities Market Commission has authorized cryptocurrency platform Venga to operate under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA), making it one of a small number of MiCA-approved entities in Spain.

According to Odaily, MiCA’s transition period took effect on July 1, requiring digital asset companies that previously operated under national rules to obtain formal approval under the new regime or stop providing regulated services in the EU.

The authorization allows Venga to offer services across the EU’s market of 27 member states under a single regulatory framework.

Venga co-founder and CEO Michael Stroev said the MiCA review covers areas including ownership structure, corporate governance, management suitability, risk frameworks, and product infrastructure.

The report said more than 3,000 crypto companies in the EU previously held local virtual asset service provider registrations, while about 240 companies have now received full MiCA authorization. It added that fewer than 15 companies in Spain have been approved.
