A new prediction event on Polymarket asks whether Tesla will officially launch a driverless robotaxi service in California by December 31, 2026.

According to Odaily, the market will resolve “Yes” if Tesla officially offers the public an autonomous robotaxi service in California by the end of 2026 that does not require continuous human driver takeover; otherwise, it will resolve “No.”

The report said Tesla continues to advance its autonomous driving and robotaxi plans, but progress differs by region. It noted that Tesla has conducted more aggressive driverless mobility testing and planning in parts of the United States such as Texas, while activity in California remains constrained by stricter regulation.

Odaily said California’s Department of Motor Vehicles and the California Public Utilities Commission require multi-stage approvals for commercial autonomous operations. These approvals involve requirements related to road-testing data, remote safety operator rules, and permits for commercial passenger service.

The report added that Tesla’s activity in California is currently focused mainly on supervised driver-assistance features, described as FSD supervised, and that the company has not obtained a commercial robotaxi license allowing fully driverless operations in the state.

Odaily also said the market generally expects Tesla’s Cybercab and robotaxi commercialization to be prioritized in regions with looser regulation, while progress in California remains uncertain.
