Bank of America said public appearances by Federal Reserve officials fell sharply in the two weeks after the June policy meeting, which it described as a possible early sign that Fed Chair Kevin Warsh is pursuing a lower-profile communications approach.
According to Jin10, Bank of America strategists said Fed officials delivered only 12 speeches and interviews since the June FOMC meeting, including events scheduled through the end of this week.
The strategists compared that with an average of about 23 appearances over the same two-week window after Fed meetings since 2022.
They said the decline could indicate that FOMC participants are following Warsh’s preference for speaking less, but it could also reflect the July 4 holiday and the possibility that officials had no additional details to add beyond the guidance released in June.
Bank of America said it remains unclear whether the shift represents a new trend or temporary noise.
