TRON’s Nile testnet has launched an anti-quantum upgrade and released a mandatory node version, GreatVoyage-v4.8.2-PQ1-build1, introducing post-quantum signature support for the first time.

According to ChainCatcher, the release adds support for two signature algorithms, Falcon-512 and ML-DSA-44, as part of TRON’s testing and validation work on quantum-resistant security.

The project said the new capabilities are intended for use in transaction signing, SR block production signatures, P2P relay node handshakes, and signature verification for TVM smart contracts.

TRON said developers running Nile testnet nodes should complete the version upgrade as soon as possible. It added that the new features will only take effect on the Nile testnet after being approved through a proposal vote, and that enabling testnet functionality does not mean the mainnet will launch the same features at the same time.
