AMD has announced the Versal Premium Gen2 MoP adaptive system-on-chip (SoC), its first Versal product to use an on-package memory architecture.

According to Jin10, the chip integrates up to 32GB of LPDDR5X memory within a single package and supports bandwidth of up to 288GB/s, aiming to balance size and performance compared with traditional onboard or discrete LPDDR5X designs.

AMD said the Versal Gen2 MoP integrates up to four LPDDR5X chips in the package, enabling up to 32GB capacity, speeds of up to 9000MT/s, and bandwidth of up to 288GB/s. The company said this approach can reduce board area by more than 60% versus discrete LPDDR5X designs, deliver up to a 10-fold increase in compute performance, and support a product lifecycle of more than 15 years.
