Real-world assets (RWA) and tokenization have overtaken decentralized finance (DeFi) as the primary sector for Web3 founders, a Proof of Talk report found. According to BeInCrypto, “The State of Web3 Capital 2026” analyzed more than 200 Proof of Pitch 2026 startup applications and surveyed 13 Web3 venture funds.
RWA/tokenization led founder focus at 29% vs DeFi at 23% and decentralized AI at 11%, while 12 of 13 funds (92%) selected RWA/tokenization as a top sector. The report also flagged a shift away from token-only fundraising: 5% of applicants sought token-only financing, while 83% wanted equity exposure; 44% reported revenue and 7% profitability.
