Filmmaker Carl Erik Rinsch was sentenced to 30 months in prison for stealing $11 million from a streaming company, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.
According to NS3.AI, prosecutors said Rinsch obtained the funds after claiming they were needed to complete a science-fiction series.
The DOJ said Rinsch instead used the money for stock options, cryptocurrency speculation, and luxury purchases.
