Thomas Tuchel said he is concerned about England’s right-back situation at the World Cup after Jarell Quansah suffered an ankle injury in the 2-0 win over Panama in New Jersey that secured top spot in Group L. Quansah, who started for the injured Reece James, limped off in the second half and went down the tunnel for treatment ahead of England’s last-32 tie in Atlanta on Wednesday (17:00 BST), with Tuchel saying it was too early to assess the severity and that Quansah’s availability is uncertain, according to Yahoo Sports.
James is a major doubt with a hamstring injury, while Tino Livramento left the squad with a calf issue, leaving Djed Spence and Ezri Konsa as Tuchel’s apparent right-back options. Tuchel previously called up Trevoh Chalobah after Livramento withdrew rather than adding a replacement right-back such as Trent Alexander-Arnold.
