The South Korean government said it expects to build four chip plants in the country’s southwest, with planned investment of about 580 trillion won. According to Odaily, Samsung Electronics plans to build two new semiconductor plants, and SK Hynix plans to build two new plants.
The government also said investment in the chip sector over the next 15 years is expected to reach at least 21.8 trillion won, covering areas including next-generation memory, edge artificial intelligence, and defense.
