Iraq’s foreign minister said Iraq is willing to mediate between the United States and Iran to help end the war.
According to Jin10, the minister made the remarks at a joint press conference in Baghdad with Iran’s foreign minister.
He said Iraq maintains good relations with both the United States and Iran and is prepared to work with both sides to resolve the conflict. He added that Iraq had previously helped establish cooperative ties between Iran and the United States.
The minister said that despite a memorandum of understanding signed by Iran and the United States, conflict in the Strait of Hormuz has continued.
He said the war must end because it could lead to the destruction of the entire region, not just one country.
