The United States and Iran have agreed to stop attacking each other and plan to meet on Tuesday in Doha, Qatar, to address a dispute related to the Strait of Hormuz, a senior U.S. official said.
According to Odaily, the agreement follows renewed attacks 11 days after a ceasefire memorandum was signed, after which U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to restart the war and “finish the job.”
A senior U.S. official said, “We decided to stop all military actions.”
A person familiar with the talks said a meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday in Switzerland was intended to address Iran’s nuclear program, but the venue was changed after the situation escalated and the focus shifted back to the Strait of Hormuz.
A U.S. official and a person familiar with the matter said Nick Stewart, who leads the U.S. technical team, is expected to attend the meeting.
