Israel’s military said it has approved a plan to continue military operations inside a “security zone” in southern Lebanon under a ceasefire agreement.

According to Jin10, the Israel Defense Forces said in a statement that Chief of the General Staff Zamir formally approved the plan on June 28 during an inspection of the IDF Northern Command.

Zamir said forces from the IDF’s 36th Division and an assault brigade were maintaining operational control over the Beaufort Highlands area and had the tools and capabilities needed to weaken the enemy.

He said the Northern Command area has become the IDF’s “main operational focus.” Zamir added that the IDF was fully prepared to “quickly restart offensive operations in Lebanon and Iran” if needed.

Zamir described the agreement signed with the Lebanese government as historic and significant. He reiterated that the IDF would comply with the agreement, while stressing that the test would be in both sides’ actions and that the coming period would shape the future.
