Iran’s Foreign Ministry said ending the war in Lebanon is a fundamental prerequisite for reaching a final agreement and achieving regional stability.
According to Jin10, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei made the remarks when asked about the latest implementation of the first clause on ending the Lebanon war in a framework agreement between Israel and Lebanon, and in a U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding.
Baghaei said Iran, based on its longstanding policy grounded in the United Nations Charter and basic rules of international law, has stressed the need to safeguard Lebanon’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity and to respect the dignity and security of all Lebanese people.
He said Iran views these principles as basic conditions for any understanding related to ending the war and to what he described as the Zionist regime’s occupation of Lebanon to remain viable and stable.
Baghaei said that in both the ceasefire agreement dated April 8 and the memorandum of understanding dated June 18 on ending the war, Iran placed ending Israel’s war and military operations in Lebanon on the same priority level as ending the war against Iran, and has continued to insist that these provisions be implemented.
He added that Iran considers full implementation of the first clause of the memorandum—ending Israel’s war and military operations in Lebanon and the withdrawal of occupying forces from all occupied Lebanese territory—to be a basic condition for achieving a final, stable agreement and establishing regional stability.
