Atalanta defender Isak Hien has been ruled out of the 2026 World Cup after suffering a serious left hamstring injury and leaving Sweden’s camp, according to Yahoo Sports. Hien started all three of Sweden’s Group F matches, but lasted 37 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Japan on June 25, 2026 in Arlington, Texas before limping off. The Swedish Football Association said the injury is too severe for him to recover before the end of the tournament, with team doctor Jonas Werner warning Hien will be out of football “for some time,” and Hien wrote on Instagram: “Unfortunately this dream ends prematurely.”
