OpenAI has decided to restrict the deployment of GPT-5.6 after receiving a phone notification from the Trump administration.
According to Odaily, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said in an internal memo that the company will provide a limited preview of GPT-5.6 to a small number of partners, with the U.S. federal government approving customer access on a case-by-case basis.
Altman said that if testing proceeds smoothly, the model will be made available to a broader public in the following weeks.
