The U.S. Department of Justice said it seized a cloud computing account used by subsidiaries of Huione Group, alleging it supported infrastructure tied to moving proceeds from crypto investment frauds, cyber scams, and other crimes.
According to NS3.AI, the DOJ said the account hosted backend infrastructure for services that allegedly facilitated the transfer of illicit proceeds connected to crypto-related investment fraud and other cyber-enabled offenses.
The update comes as the FBI estimated Americans’ reported cybercrime losses exceeded $20 billion last year. The FBI also said reported cybercrime losses increased 26% in a single year.
