XPeng has made a major restructuring of its robotics business, setting up nine second-level departments under its robot center, including product, embodied system engineering, control and safety development, embodied intelligence, data closed-loop, a “general foundation” unit (virtual), a “product matrix” unit (virtual), brand marketing, and project management, according to Jiemian News.
He Xiaopeng, XPeng’s founder and CEO, is also serving as head of the robot center and head of its product department, and will receive direct reports from several department leaders including Gu Jie, Liu Xianming and Yu Tao. In an internal memo dated June 10, He said he would also personally take on the role of CEO of the robotics business.
The reshuffle follows the departure of Shi Xiaoxin, XPeng’s senior director of robot product planning. XPeng said the move was due to personal career plans and that its humanoid robot IRON remains on track for mass production.
He has said IRON is targeted to enter mass production by the end of 2026, with a monthly capacity goal of “over 1,000 units” by the end of this year, prioritizing use cases such as in-store and campus guiding and sales assistance. XPeng reported 62,700 vehicle deliveries in Q1 2026, down 33.3% year-on-year, revenue of 13.03 billion yuan, down 17.6%, and a net loss of 1.78 billion yuan.
