South Korea activated a temporary trading halt mechanism, known as a Sidecar, after KOSPI 200 futures fell 5%, suspending program trading for five minutes.
According to Odaily, the KOSPI index dropped 5% intraday to 8,477.78.
SK Hynix fell more than 6%, while Samsung Electronics declined 5.7%.
