Broadcom (AVGO) and OpenAI unveiled Jalapeño, OpenAI’s first custom AI chip, with Broadcom building the processor designed for large-language-model inference. According to BeInCrypto, the chip went from design to manufacturing tape-out in nine months, which the companies call the fastest such cycle in advanced semiconductors, aided by OpenAI’s own models.
Broadcom CEO Hock Tan said the launch validates Broadcom’s custom-ASIC strategy, with deployment slated to start in late 2026 with Microsoft and other partners. BeInCrypto cited positioning data showing AVGO’s Chaikin Money Flow at -0.006 and relative strength vs SOXX at 53.6, while AMD and Micron (MU) showed positive CMF.
