Boeing China President Lu Yiming said Boeing’s fleet in China is expected to double over the next 20 years and would require about 250,000 additional workers.
According to Jin10, Lu made the remarks on June 24 during a fireside chat at the fourth China International Supply Chain Expo.
Lu said all of Boeing’s supply-chain partners in China contribute unique value within the company’s global collaboration system. He added that many parts used across Boeing aircraft operating worldwide are produced or supplied from China.
Discussing Boeing’s growth potential in the China market, Lu said the projected workforce demand would include roles such as flight crew and ground services.
Lu also said Boeing has already trained hundreds of thousands of professional service personnel in China’s aviation sector and would continue increasing its investment in human capital in China.
