Seventy-eight vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz on the 24th, marking the highest single-day transit total since the outbreak of fighting involving Iran, according to a report released on the 25th by S&P Global Commodity Insights. According to Odaily, the report said average daily ship traffic in the strait this month has recovered to about 57% of pre-conflict levels.
The report said a total of 551 vessels had transited the Strait of Hormuz so far this month as of the 24th, putting the month on track to become the busiest since the fighting began.
It added that ships departing the strait recently included both vessels that had been delayed for an extended period due to the conflict and vessels that entered more recently, which the report said reflects early signs of a return toward normal shipping activity.
The report noted that whether the rebound in traffic can be sustained remains to be seen, and that relevant agreements still need to be further strengthened and implemented.
