Anthony Pompliano Says AGI May Be Near After Reported Mythos NSA System Breach

Anthony Pompliano, chairman of Bitcoin treasury company ProCap Financial, said in a post on X that Mythos reportedly breached classified systems at the U.S. National Security Agency within hours. According to Odaily, Pompliano said the report would intensify public concerns about AI risks and lead to more regulatory involvement, adding that it signals artificial general intelligence may be approaching.

Pompliano said current AI technology not only exceeds humans in capability but is also self-training and improving at a pace that is difficult to understand, arguing that humans cannot match these models.

He added that each model upgrade raises expectations and that people have gradually become less impressed by major technological breakthroughs, which he said has reinforced confidence that technology will continue to advance. Pompliano said negative effects from AI should be acknowledged, but described the current period as one of the most exciting in human history and said society may ultimately be the biggest beneficiary.

Pompliano also commented on inflation, saying inflation above 9% has led many people to form incorrect expectations, with some predicting a return of high inflation whenever markets fluctuate. He said factors such as tariffs and war can create inflationary pressure, but added that inflation above 9% is extremely rare and unlikely to recur for a prolonged period in the future.
