Bank of Japan’s Tamura Says Policy Rate Should Move Toward Neutral Level

Bank of Japan Policy Board member Naoki Tamura said it was important to move the BOJ’s policy interest rate toward a neutral level to avoid being forced to raise rates sharply later. According to Jin10, Tamura said pushing the policy rate toward neutral would help prevent a situation in which the central bank has to implement large rate hikes at a later stage.
