The American Arbitration Association and its partners have launched the Legal Context Protocol (LCP) for AI agent transactions, as projections point to a rapidly expanding market for agent-driven payments.
According to NS3.AI, Gartner projects an agentic payment economy reaching $15 trillion by 2028.
The LCP is designed to make legal terms, consent, and dispute-resolution processes discoverable and verifiable for transactions conducted by AI agents. The protocol is intended to support clearer legal context around automated interactions.
The announcement said LCP does not require blockchain technology. It is positioned as complementary to x402 and the Machine Payments Protocol.
