Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a warning to international shipping on Wednesday, saying any new Strait of Hormuz routes established without coordination with Tehran are unacceptable and dangerous, and threatening direct action against vessels that ignore its instructions.
According to Odaily, the IRGC said ships can pass through the Strait of Hormuz safely only by using routes designated by Iran.
The IRGC Navy added that all vessels seeking to transit the strait must coordinate with Iran’s military via the international maritime distress calling frequency on Channel 16.
