Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said on June 24 that a memorandum of understanding signed by Iran and the United States showed “America’s defeat,” and he described the agreement as the result of Iran’s resistance.
According to Jin10, Ghalibaf made the remarks in a speech at the opening ceremony of the 20th conference of the Parliamentary Union of the OIC Member States, held the same day in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.
He said aggressors had believed they could force the Iranian people to retreat and change the regional situation through military pressure, blockades, psychological warfare, and terrorist attacks. He added that the Iranian people had demonstrated that the era of imposing one’s will on independent countries by force had ended.
Ghalibaf said the war had caused serious losses for Iran’s people, but he argued it also showed that even under the most difficult conditions, public resilience and determination could defeat aggressors’ plans.
