Some forecasters converting U.S. producer and consumer price data into a May personal consumption expenditures (PCE) estimate expect a strong core PCE reading and a wider-than-usual gap versus CPI, according to Nick Timiraos.
According to ChainCatcher, Timiraos said those forecasts point to core PCE inflation rising to 3.4% year over year when it is released on Thursday.
The expectation is based on estimates derived from U.S. PPI and CPI data used to project the May PCE figures.
