Seoul’s Gangnam Police Station has reportedly lost 22 Bitcoin that had been held as part of an investigation into a financial hacking case.
According to ChainCatcher, The Chosun Ilbo reported that the Bitcoin was stored in an offline wallet controlled by the reporting party rather than by police.
An investigation found that individuals who knew the wallet’s seed phrase later restored access externally and converted the Bitcoin into cash, the report said.
The missing holdings were valued at about 2.2 billion won at the latest market price, according to the report.
