Wendy's shares rose about 20% overnight as retail traders in the Reddit community recently promoted a viral campaign targeting the U.S. fast-food chain, according to a post on X by Serenity.
According to Odaily, Serenity said Wendy's has long been a well-known meme stock among U.S. retail trading communities, tied to an online joke that investors whose 0DTE options expire worthless end up working at Wendy's.
Serenity said it remains unclear whether the community-driven effort to “save Wendy's” will succeed. Serenity added that they do not hold a position in the stock and described the situation as interesting.
