Four law enforcement organizations said in a letter to government officials that they remain concerned about parts of the Clarity Act, including Section 604, known as the Blockchain Regulatory Certainty Act.

According to Odaily, the groups said the provision could create gaps in regulation and accountability and hinder investigations and prosecutions of illegal activity.

The organizations also said the bill does not sufficiently establish safeguards commonly used by traditional financial institutions and could exempt some crypto participants from certain KYC and AML reporting requirements.

In recent weeks, the organizations, government officials, Congress, and the crypto industry have held meetings to address wording issues in the bill, with discussions focusing on the BRCA. The BRCA has become a central point of disagreement in negotiations to advance the Clarity Act to Senate consideration.

The GLFOP and NAPOpolice were involved in related discussions but did not sign the letter.
