The House Financial Services Committee scheduled a July 17 hearing in New York on the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act.
According to NS3.AI, the bill would split oversight by assigning the Commodity Futures Trading Commission responsibility for spot digital commodity markets and the Securities and Exchange Commission responsibility for digital assets that qualify as investment contracts.
Separately, the Senate Banking Committee advanced the CLARITY Act by a 15-9 vote on May 14.
The Senate also passed the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act 85-5 on June 22, including a provision that would block the Federal Reserve from issuing a central bank digital currency through the end of 2030.
