Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has sent a team to develop a smartphone app called Arena that would operate independently of Facebook and Instagram and is intended to compete with major prediction markets such as Polymarket and Kalshi.
According to Odaily, the app is currently in internal development and is described as an experimental project.
Users would not place bets with real money, instead using a video game-like points system, though the report said the possibility of eventually allowing real-money wagering has not been ruled out.
Meta is also testing another standalone app called Meta Photos that would use AI technology to create new types of media.
Meta declined to comment on the report.
