CoinGecko data breach occurs, user accounts remain safe

On June 7, CoinGecko reported that unusual activity was detected on GetResponse, a third-party email direct marketing platform, on June 5. Attackers hacked into the accounts of GetResponse employees, resulting in a data breach. The attackers exported 1,916,596 contacts from CoinGecko's GetResponse account and sent phishing emails to 23,723 emails from another GetResponse customer's account.
CoinGecko said user accounts remain secure and passwords have not been compromised. It is currently reviewing security procedures and will seek to work with vendors to enhance security protocols.
