A UK class action that could see up to 40 million iCloud customers share a £3bn claim against Apple is set to proceed to trial, according to BBC. Consumer group Which? alleges Apple “trapped” users into iCloud by limiting rival cloud services’ access to Apple devices, leading to overcharging; it estimates affected customers could receive about £77 each if it wins.

The claim covers consumers who used iCloud between 8 November 2018 and 8 June 2026 and were living in the UK on 8 June 2026, unless they opt out. Which? filed the case at the Competition Appeal Tribunal in November 2024. Apple has called the claims unfounded, said customers are not required to use iCloud, and said it plans to appeal. The case is not expected to be heard until October 2028.
