Iranian parliamentary speaker and head of Iran’s negotiating delegation Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf said on the 22nd local time that management of the Strait of Hormuz will not return to its pre-war status. According to Odaily, he said that, while complying with international law, the strait will be managed by Iran under a mechanism set by Iran.
Qalibaf said issues could arise in the Strait of Hormuz, and that Iran and the United States agreed to establish a coordination center and open a hotline to resolve problems more quickly within a 30-day period.
He added that the hotline is not intended to approve passage permits, and that relevant permits will continue to follow existing procedures. He said the hotline will be used only to handle vessel-related problems or emergencies.
