Iran said on Monday it will continue cooperating with the United Nations nuclear watchdog “under existing procedures,” after a senior U.S. official said Tehran had agreed to allow International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to return to Iran, a claim Iran rejected.
According to Odaily, Iran’s Islamic Republic News Agency cited Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei as saying Iran’s engagement with the IAEA will proceed in line with Iran’s obligations under its safeguards agreement, and in accordance with resolutions passed by parliament and decisions of the Supreme National Security Council.
Earlier, U.S. Vice President Vance said at a news conference in Switzerland that Iran had agreed to allow IAEA inspectors to enter the country.
