Leading U.S. crypto advocacy groups urged the U.S. House Ways and Means Committee to advance Rep. Mike Carey’s Tax Clarity for Mining and Staking Act, which would let miners and staking-reward recipients choose when to recognize taxable income—when assets are received or when they are sold. The push came in a Sunday letter to the panel’s Republican chair and senior Democrat, according to CoinDesk, as Democrats and critics including the Revolving Door Project raised concerns about potential indefinite deferral for mining firms such as American Bitcoin, backed by Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.
