U.S. President Donald Trump said UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer is set to resign, blaming Starmer’s ban on new North Sea oil licenses and failures on immigration and energy. According to BeInCrypto, Trump wrote in a Truth Social post on Saturday, June 21 that Starmer had “failed badly” and urged the UK to “open North Sea oil.”

The UK government said on November 26, 2025 it would grant no new oil and gas exploration licenses. Ofgem confirmed a 13% rise in the household energy price cap from July, lifting the annual dual-fuel bill from £1,641 to £1,862.
