Citrini Research said hyperscale cloud service providers could issue more than twice the amount of bonds in 2027 to 2028 than the market currently expects, mainly to support construction of AI data centers.
According to Odaily, Citrini Research estimated that AI-related debt issuance in 2026 could be close to $570 billion, while hyperscalers’ capital expenditures have exceeded $600 billion.
Citrini Research said that as these companies continue increasing investment in AI infrastructure, they are gradually shifting from relying on cash reserves to raising more funds through the bond market.
