U.S. President Donald Trump said in a Fox News interview on June 21 that if the United States and Iran fail to reach an agreement, the United States would become the “guardian” of the Strait of Hormuz and collect 20% of the Middle East’s oil revenue.

According to Odaily, the broadcaster said Trump spoke with Iranian officials on the night of June 20 and warned them not to close the Strait of Hormuz.

Trump was quoted as telling Iranian officials: “If you close it, you will no longer have a country.”
