Iran coach Amir Ghalenoei criticised US authorities over what he said was inconsistent scheduling and restrictions that have limited Iran’s World Cup training time, saying the latest plan left his team with less than 16 hours to prepare and forced them to cut training short ahead of a Group G match against Belgium, according to Yahoo Sports. Iran’s base was moved to Tijuana, Mexico from Tucson, Arizona, and several staff members were denied US visas; the team has been commuting into the US for matches. Ghalenoei said Iran had 24 hours to prepare before a 2-2 draw with New Zealand, and that officials told him Iran would have more control over travel planning for its final group match in Seattle against Egypt on 26 June.
