Egypt coach Hossam Hassan dismissed reports of a rift with Mohamed Salah after substituting the captain in the 76th minute of Egypt’s World Cup opener against Belgium, according to Yahoo Sports. Salah assisted Emam Ashour before being replaced by teenager Hamza Abdelkarim of Barcelona as Egypt drew 1-1, and Hassan said the decision was made for the benefit of the team ahead of Sunday’s Group G match against New Zealand at BC Place. After New Zealand and Iran drew 2-2, all four teams in the group have one point.
