马斯克公开回应称，相较于政府持有企业股权，更好的方案是由财政部直接向民众发钱；他表示在 AI 与机器人推动下，商品和服务供给增速将超过货币供应增速，因此直接发钱不会导致通胀，未来需要应对的是“大通缩”。
双方分歧主要集中于财富分配路径：万斯倾向通过国家参与生产端分配收益，马斯克主张通过消费端直接补贴民众，反对政府介入企业所有权结构。
