Jefferies analysts said the Trump administration’s move to restrict foreign entities from using Anthropic’s top AI models may be difficult to maintain over the long term. According to Jin10, the analysts wrote in a research note that the strict limits could be challenging to implement and may harm the U.S. AI ecosystem.
They said many AI researchers and engineers in the United States were born abroad, and excluding them from access to frontier models could slow research progress. The analysts added that such restrictions could also push some talent and use cases overseas, which they said was not an outcome the U.S. government would want.
