PayPal’s corporate venture capital arm, PayPal Ventures, is gradually shutting down and has paused new investment activity. According to PANews, TechCrunch reported that the unit, founded in 2016, has invested in more than 80 companies, including crypto trading platform Talos Global, fintech infrastructure firm Plaid, and crypto bank Anchorage Digital.
A PayPal spokesperson said the company is exploring strategic options for the corporate venture capital unit as part of an ongoing focus on its strategy. PayPal Ventures still nominally exists, with a small number of employees supporting its existing portfolio.
