India-UK Trade Agreement to Enter Into Force on July 15, 2026, Modi Says

India's trade agreement with Britain will come into force on July 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said. According to RTHK, Modi said the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (Ceta), signed in July last year after more than three years of negotiations, will take effect on 15th July 2026.

Under the agreement, India will reduce or eliminate tariffs on many British goods, including whisky, gin and cosmetics, while the UK will cut tariffs on many Indian exports such as marine products, gems and jewellery, toys, engineering goods, chemicals and auto components.
